Period 1 Class

Today I confirmed a thought I’ve been having for awhile – I am much harsher to period 1 classes. Don’t know what it is – possibly something to do with still being half asleep and angry for being woken up – but I am always much more easily frustrated during first period. I’m sharper and I have zero patience for the little brats when they decide to be mouthy. By second period I’ve mellowed considerably.

Perhaps first period prep is the way to go for me in my future career to avoid me giving my students the impression I’m angry at the world.

Additionally – if you’re going to sneak away from your supply teacher during the walk from the library back to class – don’t get caught by the administrators. You’ll just end up being escorted back to my classroom where I’ve already written down your names for your regular classroom teacher.

Uh-oh, sounds like someone isn’t gonna be looking forward to attending class when their regular teacher returns.

Don’t blame yourself too much about your first period, it’s morning for them too so I’m sure they’re a little more inclined to act cranky too. I definitely remember being worse behavior-wise in my first couple periods than later in the day.

    • To be honest I don’t even think the kids are always that much worse – I’m just more inclined to have lower tolerance for dealing with them since I’m still half asleep. Most of the time the majority of the class is barely functioning – it’s that odd pain in the butt kid who won’t shut up.
